Planting Dates
I heard this story once it was so profound, at least to me that I've never forgotten it, my hope is that it touches you.
Its seem the Arabs have a custom of planting Date pits. It is important to understand that a date tree takes many years to produce fruit of any amount. In fact it can take so long that the adult planting and caring for a date tree may never taste the fruit of that labor. But it is for their children that the pit was even planted, for their enjoyment and survival. The narrator ended the story by asking those in attendance to go forth and be like those in the story and plant dates, not with pits, but with actions for our children least we leave them with out dates to eat, or survive.
